Post-Production
The major activity of Post-Production consists of video and audio editing. It may also include color correction of video clips (so that the red shirt of an actor looks the same from one shot to the next), the selection of appropriate background music, and the creation of special audio effects. When using a single camera film-style, which means that a scene is built by recording one shot aft er another with only one camera, the Post-Production activities may take longer than the actual production.
Before you jump into any of the projects below, please make sure that you teach your students how to use your software. We recommend you teach them the following things:
What are J-cuts? What are L-cuts? How to adjust the audio in your software? What are transitions? How do I make credits? What are the short cut keys?
Date Night
In this project, students learn to read a script and edit footage that they haven't shot. It's a great introduction into editing.
Multi-cam Editing
In this project, students will learn to edit multiple angles as they cut it "live" on the timeline.
Speed Ramping
In this project, students will learn to speed up and slow down footage.
Color Grading
Most of the time when you shoot footage it looks flat. Programs like Premiere offer ways for your students to get that cinematic look. Tons of tutorials are on the web. We are currently working on a lesson for this.
