The Set Up
Customizing Short Cut Keys for Animation
Photoshop does not come with pre-determined Short Cuts Keys for Timeline Animation. So we must setup these Short Cuts ourselves. Yes it is possible for us to save these customizations for later use.
Learning the Process: Simple Animation - Bouncing Ball
|
A Bouncing Ball Animation is probably the first animation you teach your students. So let's do one together.

Brush Tool - Freehand |
Shape Tool - Ellipse - Tweening |
Learning the Process: Using Still and Video Layers - Burning Candle
With the Timeline, you can incorporate still and video layers in the same composition. It is actually a very useful practice. Let's Do It.

After You have Taught the Students How to use the Timeline
I have my student visit the website linked to the button below. That website has a bunch of frame by frame simple animations. I usually make them replicate the frames on a storyboard. After they have done so I tell them to do a couple of the ones I choose on the Timeline in Photoshop. I count these as daily grades. For a test grade, I make the students have a combination of at least three elements.
